IN RE: State of Ohio vs. Joseph R. Janson
Case Number: 2023-A-0007

Ashtabula County Prosecutor, Colleen M. O’Toole with the assistance of Assistant Prosecutor, Daniel Maynard had successful results in the case of Joseph Janson on September5, 2023.

The Court of Appeals of Ohio Eleventh Appellate District has affirmed the judgement of the Ashtabula County Court of Common Pleas.

Defendant- Appellant Joseph R. Janson, appealed his convictions for aggravated trafficking of drugs, a second-degree felony, in violation of R.C. 2925.03(A) (2) and (C) (1) (d), following a jury trial in the Ashtabula County Court of Common Pleas. At issue is whether Janson’s conviction is against the manifest weight of the evidence.

After reviewing the weight of the evidence, The Court of Appeals of Ohio, Eleventh District has stated that the jury did not clearly lose its way or create a manifest miscarriage of justice. For the foregoing reasons, the judgement of the Ashtabula County Court of Common Pleas is affirmed. Mr. Janson is currently serving four (4) to six (6) years in prison with forty-five (45) days credit for time served.
