Explore What We Do

The Ashtabula County Prosecutor’s Office is dedicated to providing the citizens of Ashtabula County with a safe, effective, and sustainable justice system. We represent the rights and interests of the citizens, victims of crime, and officeholders. In addition to prosecuting criminals, we provide legal representation and serve as legal advisors to all the County’s elected officials, townships, boards, and other officials and affiliated entities, including the State of Ohio.

Civil Division

The Civil Division provides comprehensive legal services to all Ashtabula County entities including real-estate tax collection.

Criminal Division

Prosecutes and convicts over 600 felonies and misdemeanors each year from initial investigation through appeal.

Victims of Crime Assistance Program

Supports and assists all victims of crime including, domestic violence from initial victimization through healing process. Services are available free of charge to all victims of Ashtabula County.

Juvenile Division

Prosecutes delinquent children and advocates children who are victims of abuse and neglect. The office is dedicated to implementing best practices in its pursuit of the best interest of the child.

Victims

What we do for victims/witnesses

The mission of the Victims of Crime Assistance Program is to provide crime victims with the information and emotional support necessary to make their way through the process of seeking justice. Our services are free of charge, confidential, and provided only at the victim’s request.

24-hour advocacy

Victims Advocates provide emotional support, information and assistance to crime victims and their families at all local emergency rooms, crime scenes and all local police departments upon request.

Criminal Justice system advocacy

Advocates provide emotional support and assistance to crime victims whose cases are being prosecuted in Ashtabula County along with victims of federal crimes. 

Community outreach

Staff is available to present all topics we deal with on a daily basis: sexual assaults, internet safety, identity theft, elder abuse, domestic abuse, burglary, etc.  Training is also available for law enforcement, medical staff, social services and other professional staff.
