Ashtabula County Prosecutor, Colleen M. O’Toole with the assistance of Assistant Prosecutor, Michael Bodyke has continued to keep Ashtabula County safe in the case of John Furman on August 28, 2023.

Having found no merit to Furman’s assigned errors, The Court of Appeals of Ohio Eleventh Appellate District has affirmed the judgement. Mr. Furman is currently serving twenty (20) to twenty-five (25) years in prison with five hundred and eight (508) days credit for the time served and five (5) years post release control.

The Court of Appeals of Ohio Eleventh Appellate District has affirmed the judgement of the Ashtabula County Court of Common Pleas.

Defendant-Appellant John Furman appealed his convictions for kidnapping, rape and domestic violence following a jury trial. Mr. Furman unsuccessfully claimed he was denied his constitutional and statutory rights to a speedy trial.
