RE: State of Ohio vs. Marvin White

On August 31, 2019, Thelma Paul died from a Fentanyl Overdose from Carfentanil in her system as a result of sharing drugs. The individual who shared these drugs with her obtained the drugs from Marvin White. The Crime Enforcement Agency of Ashtabula County (CEAAC) task force, with the help of Detective Tom Perry from the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office, made a controlled buy from him which resulted in the recovery of Carfentanil. Within days, a search warrant was served which lead to the recovery of more Carfentanil.
On September 30, 2022, Mr. White was convicted for his role in Thelma Paul’s death. Mr. White was convicted of two counts of Involuntary Manslaughter, both F-1’s, corrupting another with Drugs, an F-2, Trafficking in a Fentanyl Related Compound, an F-5, Possession of Methamphetamine, an F-3, Trafficking in a Fentanyl Related Compound and Aggravated Possession of Drugs, both F-3’s and Possessing Criminal Tools, another F-5. Mr. White faces a maximum possible sentence of nineteen (19) to twenty-four and a half (24.5) years in prison. Sentencing will take place on a later date.
